My daughter and I spent 3 nights at the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort in June 2026 in order to do the “hard work” of writing this review. Choosing a hotel in Hawaii can be overwhelming, so hopefully, this will help you narrow your choices, especially if you are looking for a Kauai hotel that can be booked with Marriott Bonvoy points.
Overall, this is a low-key, small-ish hotel. If you’re looking for a massive resort complex, look elsewhere. But if you want a solid beachfront resort with a nice pool, ocean views, and some good food that won’t break the bank, Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort could easily fit the bill.
Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort Overview
Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort is a laid-back Hawaiian resort with just 314 rooms. The pool is at the center of the property, and it’s easy to reach from any room. I could get from my room to the pool in under 2 minutes. It isn’t one of those sprawling resorts that require a map and a golf cart to navigate. I found it to be a low-key oceanfront property, better suited to a quiet stay.
Marriott Hotels on Kauai
There are 8 Marriott hotels on the island of Kauai, including 2 Sheratons, a Sheraton Vacation Club, a Westin Vacation Club, 3 Marriott Vacation Clubs, and an Autograph Collection property.
Be sure not to confuse Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort with Sheraton Kauai Resort or Sheraton Kauai Resort Villas — they are different properties.
Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort is on the east side of the island, just over 6 miles north of Lihue Airport (LIH). It was easy to grab an Uber at the airport for the quick 12- to 15-minute drive to the resort. The other 2 Sheratons on the island are on the south side in Poipu.
Booking Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort
Base-level rooms during my stay at Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort started at $502, including taxes and fees, or 72,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. The room I stayed in, a Deluxe Oceanfront Queen, starts at around $683 per night.
There was a $45 resort fee per night, even when booking with points.
The resort fee included:
- Welcome drink and lei upon arrival for 2 guests per stay
- Daily 2-hour cruiser bike rental for 2 guests
- Beach chair and umbrella rental for 2 guests
- Daily resort activities (morning yoga, lawn games, hula lessons, ukulele lessons, lei-making classes, etc.) for 2 guests
- Daily action camera rental with accessories and equipment
- Deluxe arcade room access for 2 people
- Daily enhanced high-speed internet access
While $500 per night isn’t cheap, it’s a moderate price for a resort on Kauai. This resort was featured on our “Hawaii Hotels — Splurge vs. Steal” podcast episode as a steal for Kauai.
Deluxe Oceanfront Queen Room
We spent 3 nights in a Deluxe Oceanfront Queen Room. It had a spectacular oceanfront location and a private balcony for enjoying the views. Since we were facing east, it was a perfect spot to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee.
The room was a spacious 672 square feet with 2 queen beds. The decor was minimalist yet fresh and tropical, with a large-scale wave mural behind the beds that added color and whimsy. There was also a set of drawers, a coffee maker, and a separate sitting area.
The bathroom featured double sinks and a spacious shower with a bench. I enjoyed the Gilchrist & Soames Warm Oak bath products and plush robes.
Pools and Beach
There was 1 main pool at Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort, along with an attached shallow pool for kids and a large hot tub. While 1 pool might not seem like much, it was rarely crowded since this isn’t a huge resort.
While the resort is beachfront, there weren’t any chairs set up on the beach. However, there were a few beach chairs and hammocks in the grass near the beach. The water was rough when I visited, and most guests opted for the pool instead of the beach.
Food and Beverages
The food options were solid for a 3-night trip, but could be repetitive for a longer visit.
Each morning, I grabbed coffee for myself and a smoothie for my daughter at First Light Coffee and Juice Bar. Open every morning, this spot served Starbucks coffee and some light breakfast bites.
Later each morning, we ate breakfast at Daybreak Restaurant. While a buffet was available, I opted for the à la carte menu. I had planned to try different things each day, but the avocado toast I ordered on the first morning was so delicious that I stuck with it for the rest of my stay.
Lunch was by the pool each day. I appreciated the easy QR code ordering system — no trying to flag someone down to take our order. I ordered from my phone, and our food and drinks were brought directly to our poolside seats.
After lunch, we indulged in complimentary poolside shave ice from 1 to 3 p.m. each day.
On our first night, we ate an early dinner (thanks to jet lag) at The Crooked Surf, the pool bar and grill. We attended the luau on our second night and ordered pizza through Uber Eats (at my 12-year-old’s request) on our last night, so I never ate at the resort’s main dinner restaurant, Moa Moa.
Resort Activities
The resort fee at Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort included lei making, ukulele and hula lessons, crafts, lawn games, bike rentals, and yoga. Some of these activities required advance registration but were complimentary for resort guests.
We tried lei making, a shell picture-frame craft, and a ukulele lesson during our stay.
Luau Ka Hikina
Attending a Hawaiian luau may be touristy, but I found it worthwhile. The Luau Ka Hikina at Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort happens at 5:30 p.m., 2 to 4 days a week, depending on the season. Admission included a full buffet, open bar, and a show.
The luau took place in an open-air event space next to the hotel. While the structure took away a bit of the ambiance of being outside in Hawaii, I appreciated that the weather was less of a concern. I’ve been disappointed by a rainout at a luau.
The show, which explored Hawaiian and Polynesian culture through song and dance, was excellent. I had a smile on my face the entire evening.
As of July 2026, adult tickets cost $193.75, kids from 7 to 13 cost $130.64, and kids 3 to 6 cost $88.57.
Final Thoughts
I enjoyed my 3-night stay at Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort. It’s a small resort with 1 main pool and limited dining options, but I enjoyed its beachfront location, large hot tub, and luau. Whether booking with Marriott Bonvoy points or cash, it’s a moderately priced Hawaiian resort.
