Bali, Indonesia, is known for its idyllic beaches, lush landscapes, and spiritual culture. For many travelers, it’s a dream destination.
I visited Bali in early 2016, before my points-and-miles journey began. That was a different time in my life, when I was carefully watching every dollar I spent so I could keep backpacking around the world.
Now, I have numerous credit cards and millions of points and miles that I can use at hotel chains worldwide. Fortunately, Bali has excellent properties to pick from across nearly every hotel chain.
My wife and I planned to be in Bali for a month, and we knew we wanted to stay at a few hotels along the way. For the first night on the island, we booked Conrad Bali, a 5-star property with plenty to offer.
Here’s a look at my April 2026 stay at the Conrad Bali, along with a few things to know about the hotel.
1. It’s a Hilton Resort Hotel
The Conrad Bali is a Hilton resort hotel, so you can use the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card‘s resort credit at this property.

The Hilton Aspire card is arguably the most valuable credit card in my wallet. It offers numerous perks and benefits, including Hilton Honors Diamond Elite status, elevated earnings at Hilton properties, and an annual free night certificate.
The Hilton Aspire card is a premium card with a hefty $550 annual fee, but it offers several statement credits that help offset it.
One of these credits is the up-to-$400 annual Hilton resort credit (up to $200 in statement credits semiannually) on your card each anniversary year. The credit can only be used at participating resorts within the Hilton portfolio. It can be used toward nonprepaid room rates, dining, spa treatments, excursions, or any other charges billed to your room. Because the Conrad Bali’s cash rates for a standard room hover around $200 (including the resort fee), I could maximize the credit.
2. Hilton Honors Elite Status Went a Long Way
The complimentary Hilton Honors Diamond status from my Hilton Aspire card provides numerous benefits, including:
- Complimentary continental breakfast
- Executive Lounge access (when available)
- Room upgrades, including standard suites (when available)
- 100% bonus points on stays
- Late checkout (subject to availability)
Although we had originally booked a Deluxe King Resort room (the only standard room available at the time of booking), we were upgraded to aConrad Family Suite upon check-in. This is a massive upgrade as these rooms sell for upwards of $420 per night.
We were also provided lounge access to the Executive Lounge, complimentary breakfast, and a 4 p.m. checkout.
While hotel elite status may not matter as much at smaller hotels and more basic hotel brands, it can be extremely beneficial at higher-end or full-service hotels, which offer many more perks and amenities.
3. Our Room Was Modern and Luxurious
Our Conrad Family Suite was in a separate building on one end of the property, aptly named “Conrad Suites.”
Our suite featured a modern, luxurious space, with tasteful high-end furnishings. According to the hotel, the over-1,000-square-foot Conrad Suite can accommodate up to 6 guests.
The suite featured a separate dining area and living room, larger than my entire Chicago apartment. The living room had 2 sectional sofas and an armchair tucked into one corner. There was also a large balcony that overlooked the pool dedicated to guests staying in a suite.
The bedroom was connected to the living room via 2 separate doors on either side of the wall-mounted television unit. It was enormous, with 2 queen beds pushed together to create a massive, almost oversized bed, unlike anything I’ve seen in a hotel before. The beds were exceptionally comfortable.

The marble bathroom was just as spacious as the rest of the room. Inside the entrance was a sizable walk-in closet and dressing room.
The bathroom included dual vanities, a generously sized soaking tub, a separate enclosed toilet area, and a rainfall shower.
Bottom Line:
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the Conrad Suite. It was probably the largest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The room was incredibly spacious and relaxing, offering a feeling of refined luxury.
4. There Are Several Places To Eat and Drink
The Conrad Bali offered several on-site dining options:
- Azure Bar and Kiosk is the hotel’s poolside dining venue, which serves drinks and light meals.
- East Lobby Lounge is the hotel’s lobby cocktail bar and lounge.
- Eight Degrees South is the hotel’s beachfront restaurant, specializing in seafood.
- The Executive Lounge offers snacks and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day.
- Rin is the property’s upscale Japanese restaurant, specializing in contemporary Japanese cuisine, including sushi and teppanyaki.
- Suku is Conrad Bali’s primary restaurant serving both traditional Indonesian and international cuisine.
Rin
At Rin, my wife and I opted for the Unlimited Sushi Indulgence lunch buffet. The buffet cost 390,000 Indonesian rupiah(about $23) per person, plus taxes and service charges.
The sushi was exceptionally fresh and skillfully prepared. Unfortunately, the lunch buffet offered a relatively limited selection. Still, it was an excellent meal and one that my wife and I both cherished.
Executive Lounge
The Executive Lounge, located directly above Rin, hosts an afternoon tea session with various desserts and finger foods, including muffins, cookies, and cakes.
The lounge also offers a daily evening cocktail service, with a wide selection of beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, wines, bottled beers, soft drinks, and coffee.
Canapés are also served, though they are offered upon request rather than presented as a buffet, unlike in many other hotel lounges. The food changes daily. During our stay, we were presented with tuna karaage with Japanese mayo and chicken katsu with tonkatsu sauce.
Elite Breakfast
Hilton Diamond members can have breakfast at either Suku or Rin. Since both restaurants offer the same breakfast menu, we opted for Rin as it was much closer to our room.
The breakfast buffet had an impressive selection of international and Indonesian dishes, including nasi goreng, mie goreng Jawa, and eggplant balado. There was also an à la carte menu featuring popular Western breakfast dishes.
Bottom Line:
Overall, breakfast was solid, but did not live up to our extremely high expectations. Our previous stay at a Conrad property, at the Conrad Tokyo, was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had, and we expected similar (which isn’t really fair).
5. There Are Numerous On-Site Amenities
Conrad Bali offers guests numerous amenities, including a world-class full-service spa, 3 swimming pools, a fully equipped fitness center, several tennis courts, a kids club, a wedding chapel, and several meeting and event spaces.
The Conrad Spa features several steam rooms and saunas. The spa also offers a wide range of treatments, including massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures.
One of the 3 swimming pools is strictly for those staying in Conrad Suites rooms, though it was not really enforced.
The hotel offers a wide array of daily activities, including sunrise yoga and Pilates, botanical tours, beach soccer, beach volleyball, tennis, bike rentals, and themed evenings with live music.
Guests can book a range of water sports, including parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides, coral fishing, diving, snorkeling, and even a private boat rental.
There’s always something happening throughout the day. While many activities have a fee, several options — like beach soccer and beach volleyball — are complimentary.
6. The Staff Was Incredible
Although the Conrad brand is known for its exceptional service, the staff at the Conrad Bali went above and beyond, consistently delivering attentive service that elevated the experience.
When we checked into the hotel, I casually mentioned that my wife’s birthday had just passed and that this stay was part of her birthday celebration. When we got into our room, I was surprised to find a small birthday treat addressed to my wife waiting for us.
Despite the property’s size and large staff, every interaction felt warm and personal. Every staff member we spoke to greeted us with genuine politeness and was always ready to assist with anything we needed.
Bottom Line:
The staff were consistently smiling and truly reflected the best of Indonesian hospitality. I was truly impressed by the hotel staff’s dedication.
7. The Property Was Beautiful
The Conrad Bali was truly beautiful, with thoughtfully designed spaces, lush surroundings, and an atmosphere that felt both elegant and serene with a refined sense of luxury throughout. I don’t typically stay at resort hotels in tropical destinations, and my experience at the Conrad Bali completely changed that.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere struck a perfect balance between luxury and relaxation. The beautifully designed surroundings made it easy to unwind and fully enjoy the experience.
By the end of my stay, I found myself appreciating the unique appeal of resort living in a way I hadn’t before.
Final Thoughts
The Conrad Bali is a fantastic luxury property and one of Bali’s premier hotels. The property has much to offer, including spacious guest rooms and suites, a long list of amenities, and several on-site restaurants.
I booked this property using the Hilton Aspire card’s resort credit, which covered nearly the entire cost for this 1-night stay. Best of all, I was upgraded to a massive suite, which typically sells for over $420 per night.
I would absolutely recommend the Conrad Bali, as it is now one of my favorite hotels in the world. Since the Hilton Aspire card will provide me with another $200 resort credit in July, I will likely stay at the Conrad Bali again.
